The curtain tape is sturdy. There are 2 cords on the back that you can pull to create loops for hanging. The recommended shirring ratio is 1:2 - for 1 m of curtain after shirring, you need to use 2 m of curtain before shirring and the same ratio of ribbon.
The curtain tape may have a cutout in the package.
