Cotton satin in extra-wide width is soft, smooth, pleasant to the skin, breathable and
absorbs moisture very well . Satin is made of sanforized cotton, which has undergone a special mechanical treatment called sanforization (controlled shrinkage). This
prevents the fabric from shrinking further after washing , thus ensuring the stability of the shape and dimensions of the finished products. It can withstand
washing temperatures up to 90 °C .
Unlike polyester satin, it does not get cold.
You can use it to sew bed linen, pillows, tablecloths, curtains, etc.
The fabric measurements needed for sewing basic garments and home textiles, can be found here .
The seamstresses from our sewing workshop have prepared a simple comparison of different types of satin.
Mercerized cotton is treated by so-called merceration, when the gloss is increased by the action of sodium hydroxide while the fibers are stretched. Such cotton is not only shinier, but also softer, firmer, color fast, has brighter colors and is more resistant to abrasion and shrinkage.
