Easter

Easter is the most important Christian holiday.
The origin of Easter in Christianity is derived from the great night from Saturday to Sunday when Jesus Christ ressurected. Easter has its prototype in the old Slavonic holiday of vernal equinox, after which the time of nature´s rebirth occurs, following its winter sleep. Christian Easter is close to the Jewish feast of Passover.

The date of Easter is derived from the first full moon after the vernal equinox. Easter 2011 was relatively late; Easter Sunday fell to 24 4, in 2012 Easter falls to the 8th April, etc.

Easter traditions are extremely rich and diverse. However, they have several common features. They are a celebration of spring, awakening of nature, the birth of new life. The most typical tradition is spring cleaning of homes, expelling evil forces from buildings and Easter decorations.

After a long winter, you need to light up your home with spring colours. Easter decorations have their typical colours - mostly white, yellow and green. White colour symbolizes Easter eggs in particular, i.e. the purity and new life. Hence the origin of Easter eggs . Yellow, green and other bright colours are a symbol of spring awakening of nature.
