Polystyrene is well-know as thermally insulating material. It is one of the most common processing plastic. It is rather hard but on the other hand very fragile. It resists to acids and alkalis. But neither polystyrene is short of imperfections. As it grows older, cracks appears inside. It is sensitive to UV radiation and it resists to temperatures up to 70°C only.
Popularly used in food industry for making of disposable dishes; due high colouring capacity it is available in many colours. Popular in health care for making of various bowls, covers, test tubes etc. In building industry it is processed for thermal insulations of houses. And last but not least - for skilful hands polystyrene semi-products are available in shapes of balls, wreaths, cones, hearts, snowflakes or bells.
